GOLF: MARK GILL improved his chances of winning Blackley Golf Club’s Pro Winter League when he scored 46 Stableford points to win the latest round. Steve Murray (44 pts) beat Andy Bardsley on a card play-off for second, while Steve Newton (43) was fourth.
Bardsley leads the overall standings with 62 points, followed by Gill (54) and Newton (45).
Blackley’s new captain, Gareth Morris, did the honours at Sunday’s drive-in.
This year’s lady-captain is Barbara Stansfield, while Gareth Saxon is junior captain and Graham Stroud club president.
FATHER and son duo Chris and Robert Calow formed half of the winning team in a Texas Scramble at CROMPTON AND ROYTON.
The pair were joined by David Holme and Andrew Bottomley and their overall score of 38.3 was enough to put the quartet on top.
In second place were Andy Allen, Jack Bottomley-Clift, junior captain Jordan Abbot and Mike Gazey (38.9) while Steve Sharrock, Mark Sinfield, Steve Oldham and Richard Flynn were third (39.5).
