OLDHAM firsts wasted a two-goal lead against Greater Manchester Women’s League division one table-toppers Didsbury seconds - but they remain in contention for the title.
The local side had to settle for a 2-2 draw, despite leading through efforts from Laura Rice and Louise Howard, and they now need to win their remaining games to clinch the championship.
It was all-square again in the second half as Didsbury hit back in style, but ’keeper Sarah Simpson ensured Oldham came away with a point.
They were in action 24 hours later against Urmston firsts in the last-16 of the All-England Knockout Vase.
And they made no mistake this time as a first-half double from Karen Rowley and a Howard strike clinched a 3-0 victory.
Oldham face Vikings, from the Isle of Man, in the quarter-finals.
The club’s third team slipped into the relegation zone after a 4-0 defeat by Moss Park seconds.
There was also disappointment in the All Division Plater semi-final a day later.
Handed a 1-0 lead as opponents Moss Park firsts play in a division higher and in spite of goals from Fran Lees and Karen Lord, Oldham bowed out of the competition after a 5-3 defeat.
