OLDHAM Cricket Club have captured Craig Whittle for the 2010 Lake Garage CLL season.
The all-rounder has not seen much cricketing action in recent years because of work commitments.
But the former Crompton player, who has also turned out occasionally for Heyside in the Saddleworth League, has committed to Oldham for the forthcoming campaign.
Oldham CC cricket chairman Mel Whittle, Craig’s uncle, expects him to bat in the top six and provide a bowling option with his right-arm medium pace.
Whittle’s signing is the latest in a list of Oldham captures which includes new professional Mohammad Hanif (pictured) and overseas amateur Keelan Gossayn of South Africa.
Oldham will stage a sportsmen’s dinner at the Pollards on Friday, April 23, when ex-Athletic winger Mark Ward will be the guest speaker, Max Pressure the comedian and Michael Bradshaw MC.
