GOLF:
Andy Bardsley strengthened his place at the top of Blackley’s Pro Winter League with victory last weekend. He scored 46 Stableford points to finish ahead of Ali White (43), winner of a card play-off for second against Chris Benton, and Martin Shore (42).
Bardsley (72 points) leads Mark Gill (60) and Alex Hampson (47) in the overall standings.
A four-ball better-ball Stableford at Crompton and Royton was won by Norman Firth, Eric Fryer, Brian Howarth and Keith Masters.
An 80-point total saw them clinch the event on a card play-off from Ian Boulter, Rob Romanowski, Maurice Nicholson and Roy Denson.
Third were Derek Cannon, Stuart Thom-pson, Vic Smith and Dougie Kenyon (79 pts).
STAMFORD Golf Club have adopted a family theme in their appointment of officials for 2010.
Robert J Oag is the new captain, while his wife, Christina, has been chosen as lady-captain. Not content with that, Stamford appointed Harry Marshall as vice-captain, with his daughter Joanne Akers taking over as new lady vice-captain.
