MOSSLEY made it six wins from their last seven UniBond League division one north games with a 3-2 defeat of Harrogate Railway Athletic at Seel Park on Saturday.
The resulted lifted the red-hot Lilywhites to ninth in the table and with an outside chance of claiming a place in the end of season play-offs.
But John Flanagan’s side had to come from behind after Kevin Ryan put Harrogate ahead in the 13th minute.
Mossley weren’t behind for long as Chris McDonagh, who scored a hat-trick four days earlier against Trafford, equalised two minutes later.
Steven Moore put the home side in front eight minutes before the break, and the turnaround was complete when he doubled his tally just after the hour mark.
But Harrogate refused to throw in the towel and pulled a goal back courtesy of Ryan’s second of the afternoon two minutes from time.
TWO goals in the last two minutes clinched a 3-1 win for Oldham Boro against Norton United in division one of the Vodkat North-West Counties League.
Tony Mills’ side led through a fine Sean Roscoe strike just after the hour mark, but the visitors to the Whitebank Stadium were level when Thomas Winkle fired home with three minutes left after Boro failed to clear a corner.
But the home side, who had only lost one of their previous eight games, were back in front moments later. Darren Scanlan was pushed over inside the penalty area and Damian Schofield gleefully smashed the spot-kick straight down the middle of the goal.
Matty Hampson missed a great chance for a Boro third — he planted a header over the crossbar — but Scanlan made sure of the points when his shot arrowed into the top corner from the edge of the 18-yard box.
CHADDERTON were punished for wasting a catalogue of opportunities as they went down 2-1 at Ashton Town in NWCL division one.
Leon Walters, Andy Pheby, James Curley and Adam Edwards all had excellent chances to put the Broadway outfit in front before half-time, but none were converted to the dismay of manager Paul Buckley.
It was a similar story in the opening stages of the second period — Curley was denied by the ’keeper in a one-on-one situation — before Town went ahead through Mike Mulrooney’s 70th-minute effort.
And Chadderton conceded again 12 minutes later when Steve Edwards provided the finish.
Buckley threw caution to the wind by posting a fourth player up front, and they reduced the arrears when substitute Troy Hayder scored with his first touch, a 20-yard volley.
Gaz Morris and Mark Edgerton — the latter had an effort cleared off the line — went close to bagging an equaliser, but Town also had their moments as the match became stretched in the dying stages.
