OLDHAM women’s hockey first team are still chasing the Division 1 League title and have to win their remaining three games to finish top.
They started brightly by playing bottom-of-the-league Manchester University 3rd and rattled up a 7-0 victory thanks to goals from Karen Rowley (4), Amanda Smith (2) and Louise Howard (1).
Both their remaining games are against Urmston and, although Oldham are unbeaten in the league, Urmston managed to knock them out of the cup with a 1-0 defeat earlier this month.
The third team were in action twice at the weekend. Helped by fine individual displays from Donna Tindall and Jordanna Boon, Oldham earned a 0-0 draw with Salford Trinity.
They followed up with a 6–1 win over Heaton which takes them to mid-table and banishes any relegation worries.
Oldham’s goals came from Jordanna Boon (2), Sorcha Faulkner (1), Karen Lord (1), Deborah Alcock (1) and player-of-the-match Rachel Geraghty (1).
