Cricket meeting

AMATEUR CRICKET: CLUB officials from the Saddleworth and District Cricket League, including first and second XIs captains and vice-captains, are urged to attend a special meeting at Saddleworth Cricket Club on Monday (7.30pm).
A group, led by umpire Mike Dunkerley and Glodwick chairman Dave Chaloner, will present a system to determine results in matches delayed or interrupted by the weather.
No such method is in place in the Saddleworth League and it is felt too many games peter out to draws when chances of a positive result disappear.
A formula, on the lines of Duckworth Lewis in first-class cricket, proved a success in the Central Lancashire League last season.
The Saddleworth League, with the support of clubs, are looking to implement the system for next year.
