Brad leads the way for Aquatics

SWIMMING: MEMBERS of Oldham Aquatics Advanced Training Squad achieved splendid results in the recent Lancashire County Championships held over two weekends at the Manchester Aquatics Centre.

Star of the show was Brad Radcliffe in the 12-years age group. He collected a total of seven medals, including a pair of golds in the 100-metre butterfly and 200 individual medley.

He added five silver medals in the 50,100, 200 and 400 freestyle events, together with the 50 butterfly.

Team-mate Josh Cosgrove collected a hat-trick of bronze medals in the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly and 50 backstroke.

For the girls in this age group, Caitlin Wareing was bronze medal winner in the 1,500 freestyle event.

In the 10-years age group, debutant Dylan Arzoni had a fine win in the 50 freestyle, with Kyle Clegg collecting a silver in the 11-years 200 breaststroke.

Francesca Chiappe collected a pair of golds in the 13-years 50 and 100 freestyle events, adding a bronze medal in the 200 freestyle, while for the boys, Jamie Popelier took silver in the 100 freestyle and bronze in the 50 metre event.

Rhiannon Prestage had a hat-trick of gold medal victories in the 14-years age group in 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events with team-mate Hannah Clegg collecting a bronze in the 800 freestyle.

Sophie Kenny collected four silver medals in the 16-years age group in the 100 and 200 butterfly, together with the 200 and 400 individual medley. Team-mate Holly Bradbury added a bronze in the 50 freestyle.

Oldham Aquatics came away with a total of 27 medals - eight golds, 11 silvers and eight bronze.
