Emphatic victory for Valley

SQUASH: TAME Valley took a step closer to promotion from north-east division three of the North-West Counties League with a 5-0 demolition of Bury seconds.

Jamie Maddox, Amir Manachouri, Dave Swallow, Mike Potter and Phil Wells were victorious in the penultimate match of the season.

The seconds had Steve Ivell, Mike Donahue and Graham Hall to thank for their 3-2 win over Bury thirds, but Valley’s third team crashed to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of their Rochdale counterparts. Eric Buchannan secured the sole success.

The fourths achieved a 5-0 win over Cheetham Hill thirds thanks to the combined efforts of Steve Brannan, Eric Mowinski, Mark Regan, Derek Leyland and Amanda Maddox.
