Captain shows the way as Oldham repel late fightback

NETBALL: OLDHAM Netball Club produced a good performance to defeat Warrington’s Imagine8 52-38 in the Northern League.
With captain Alexa Collier leading by example at Hathershaw Sports Centre, Oldham were always in the ascendancy.
The defence of Amber Hazleton, Becky Pope and Becky Gregory kept the Imagine8 attack at bay, until Hazleton had to retire at half-time with an injury.
The Warrington side shuffled their pack at the midway point in attempt to get back into the game.
But Oldham started the third quarter with a bang with centre Maria McAndrew, who was influential throughout the match, making several important interceptions and providing a link from defence to attack.
The visitors struggled with the changes they made and reverted back to their original formation for the last quarter.
This had an immediate impact and shooter Krista Enziano found it difficult to find space and was forced play outside the shooting circle which limited Oldham’s opportunities.
But they had done enough to maintain their lead and repel Imagine8’s late fightback
Oldham NC: K Enziano, A Collier, L Murphy, M McAndrew, B Gregory, B Pope, A Hazleton, B Smith.
