ANGLING: CRANBERRY AC members found Bradshaw number four pool to their liking as the water fished really well for their latest match.

Jim Wild is always there or thereabouts in these matches and it was no surprise that he took first place with two carp and some silvers weighing 20lb.

Jim started on the pole and pellet for the silvers before switching to hair-rigged meat, netting himself the carp.

Second-placed Gideon Orr (17lb) caught plenty of silvers taken on pole, caster, meat and corn, while Rod Illing was third with another two carp and silvers which fell to pole, pellet, caster and maggot and weighed 16lb.

TODMORDEN’S silver-fish-only trophy match on Town House saw a few carp hooked, landed and put straight back in.

Winner was Tom Barlow with a creditable 12lb 2oz of ide and roach which fell to long pole, worm and caster.

Runner-up Nick Andrew used identical tactics for 8lb 8oz of ide and roach, while third place went to Tom Brownbill, who employed chopped worm and caster to tempt 6lb 8oz of silvers.

Best fish of the day prize went to Dave Williams, whose roach of just under a pound netted him £35.

TRI-CAST Rochdale’s final team match took place on the Hebden Bridge lengths of the Rochdale Canal where again bread punch reigned supreme.

Individual winner was John Holdsworth (Fox Match White) with 4lb 8oz from a peg near to Hollins Mill.

Second was B Kupzyncki (Fox Match Black) with 4lb 7oz of silvers, while Walt Kearney (TRI-CAST Rochdale Red) and Bob Clark (Fox Match Black) shared third with 4lb3oz.

Top team was Fox Match Black with 38 points, beating TRI-CAST Rochdale Blue (28) into second, while league winners were Fox Match Red (163).

STEVE Hall took first place in the Bradshaw Fishery silver fish open match fished on pool three, where chopped worm, caster and maggot netted him 30lb 9oz of skimmers and roach.

Fellow local angler Mike Risby also made the frame, taking 17lb of silvers with almost identical tactics.
