Vital point for RU
Date published: 06 April 2010
OLDHAM RU stretched their unbeaten run to three matches with a hard-earned 9-9 draw at Upper Eden in North Lancs/Cumbria Division.
A strong wind made it the proverbial game of two halves - Oldham having first use of the elements and playing some good rugby only to find the home defence in resolute mood.
With Chris McKenzie doing well in the lineout, Oldham dominated possession and came closest to a try when Gareth Barber was held up on the line following a slick passing move.
Andy Gorey continued his good form by kicking three penalty goals to give Oldham a 9-0 half-time lead.
But it was a different story after the break when it was Oldham’s turn to defend.
They were hampered by Rob Froggatt being sent to the sin-bin and Upper Eden’s Martin Addleson landed two penalties in his absence to go with an earlier effort.
