Wait goes on for Dale

ROCHDALE missed the chance to win their first promotion since 1969 as the Coca–Cola League Two high-flyers suffered a shock 5–0 defeat at struggling Torquay.
Goals from Scott Rendell and an Elliot Benyon brace had Torquay three up at the break before Nicky Wroe with a penalty and Mustapha Carayol completed the rout in the second half.
Defeat saw Rochdale’s lead at the top cut to two points by Notts County, who won 1–0 at Northampton thanks to Ben Davies’ 47th–minute goal. County also have a game in hand.
Dale are still 14 points clear of fourth–placed Aldershot, though.
