Five in line for title

SNOOKER:

THERE is only one point separating the top five teams in the Oldham Amateur Snooker League.

Last season’s championships Deaf B are looking in fine form, breaks of 54 from MJ Smith and a 30 from D Reece helping them to victory over Blue Club B.

Moss Inn A were held to a 3-3 draw away at Little Cot A, while a 39 break from K Halliwell was the highlight as Stanley Road were held to a 3-3 draw away at Chadderton Reform.

Stanley Road are now just one point behind the league leaders, alongside CBC who recorded a 4-2 victory away at St Paul’s.

Despite a 54 break from Colin Hopkinson, Moss Inn C could not overcome Three C’s who recorded a battling 4-2 victory at home.

Costly slip for Moss

TARA Shaw Snooker league leaders Moss Inn where well beaten 5-1 at Crompton Cons and with only two matches left it was a bad time to slip up.

Tara Leisure have leap-frogged over Moss Inn to take top spot. Despite losing the first frame at home against Comrades B, they made no mistakes with the next four to run out 5-1 winners.

Third-placed Royton Cons were beaten 4-2 after leading 2-1 and it makes it a tight finish for the title.
