Youth section thriving

GOLF:
CROMPTON and Royton’s junior section continues to go from strength to strength, over 40 youngsters taking part in 18, nine and three-hole competitions at the course.
The latter event, for members of the Kidz section (under 10 years) was held on the putting green under the watchful eye of the course’s new assistant professional Karen Heywood.
Following the various competitions, there was a potato pie supper and quiz before the handing-out of prizes.
Winners were:
18-hole medal – 1, Ryan McBerney (80-16-64); 2, Liam Marshall (86-19-67); 3, James Booth (101-32-69).
9-hole Stableford for juniors without handicaps – 1, Daniel Riley 14 points: 2, Ellis Taylor (card play-off) 7; 3, Michael Smith 7.
3-hole competition for Kidz section (under 10s) – 1, Liam McGuire 18; 2, Jack O'Neill and Nathan Unwin 23; 4, Georgina Rothwell 27.
