AMATEUR FOOTBALL:
AFC Oldham 2005 surrendered their lead against Irlam Steel in the Lancashire and Cheshire League division one.
Michael Shepherd put them in front, but they conceded from an 88th minute penalty in a 1-1 draw.
In division ‘D’ the seconds drew 3-3 with Denton West End.
Pete Smith put them ahead early on but West struck twice.
Scott Harrop’s equaliser was followed by a Denton cross that flew straight in, but Chris Hudson levelled late on.
The third team lost 5-3 to Deans FC thirds in division ‘E’ despite a Gareth Cardwell hat-trick.
The fourths saw off Old Ashtonians 5-2. Luke Richardson and Ryan Higginson (four) scored.
The third team crashed out of the Wray Cup as Aldermere beat them 4-3.
Cardwell rounded the keeper to give Oldham an early lead.
An equaliser was followed by a Brian O’Neill volley before half time.
The lead was cancelled out from a corner, but Cardwell restored the cushion with 10 minutes remaining.
But two goals in the last two minutes shattered Oldham’s cup aspirations.
Depleted Santos lost 6-1 to Droylsden Amateurs in division two despite scoring first through Adam McKinney on 10 minutes.
A Matthew Fitton mistake led to the equaliser. Droylsden made it two five minutes later and added a third before the break.
Santos didn’t have a shot in a second half which saw them concede three more.
Santos reserves beat Heaton Mersey 5-3 in division ‘D’.
A Tim Buxton header and a chip from Dominic Rathmill gave them a half time lead.
Chris Sarsfield made it three and, following two Heaton replies, Steve Crass and another Rathmill effort put the game beyond doubt.
GOLDEN Buck have dropped their first points of the season in the Ashton Sunday League — but they are still on track for the title.
They were held to a 1-1 draw by Charlestown, R Siddall scoring for Buck with J Carroll replying for the visitors.
Buck picked up three points in midweek with a 2-1 win at Home Guard, for whom P Guy bagged the consolation goal.
THE Ashton Sunday League’s two cup finals are at Curzon Ashton FC, with the League Cup on Wednesday, April 28, and Vic Marsden Trophy on Tuesday, May 4.
Both finals have a 7pm kick-off.
