Title push stalls
CHADDERTONIANS suffered two blows to their title chances in the Lancashire Amateur League premier division.
They were held to a 2-2 draw away at lowly Bolton Wyresdale, two penalties from Steve Barrow securing a point.
And they went down 3-2 to Bury GSOB. They dominated the half but conceded two goals just before the interval.
Chadds hit back through Antony Corlett and Barrow only for Bury to snatch the win in the last minute.
Chadds second team maintained third place in division two with a 3-2 win at Rochdale St Clements reserves. Dale Myers, Warren Griffith and Paul Kearns notched the goals.
Oldham Hulmeians followed up a midweek division two win at Bolton Ambassadors with a disappointing defeat at Mostonians reserves.
Danny Tate’s double gave the mid-table side a 2-1 victory at Ambassadors and they led 1-0 at half-time against Mostonians through Danny Proffitt’s looping 25-yard effort.
But a slack second-half performance saw Hulmeians concede four goals and Tate’s reply was a consolation.
Having secured promotion from division four, Chadds ‘A’ went down to Radcliffe Boys 2-1. Mark Hendstock scored for Chadds who can still clinch the title.
In division five, Hulmeians reserves won 5-2 at Tottington United Reserves, followed by a 3-0 home victory over Rochdale St Clements ‘B’ thanks to goals from Matthew Binns, Gareth Sykes and Jonathan Hadfield.
Chadds ‘B’ can still win promotion from division six. After losing 2-1 in midweek at Radcliffe ‘A’, Dean Clucas scoring, they earned a 2-1 triumph at Bolton Wyresdale ‘A’, Chris O’Toole and Mike Duxbury both getting their names on the scoresheet.
