Delph dealt double blow

THERE was double disappointment for Delph at the weekend.
Their Drakes Huddersfield League premiership campaign got under way with a defeat at home to Shepley on Saturday.
The visitors were 249 all out, with Tim Rees making 74, and Kyle Hogg taking three for 58.
Delph mustered 205 before they were dismissed, Irfan Zahoor notching 69, S P Singh doing the damage with an impressive six for 42.
Sunday saw them crash out of the Heavy Woollen Cup first round at Wrenthorpe.
The hosts roared to 394 for five, thanks largely to Eric Austin’s 150 and 125 from Gary Fellows. Imran Ashgar took four for 68.
In reply Delph were dismissed for 137 all out, Aaron Lilley’s 23 the pick of the bunch.
Steve Ball made 29 not out for Delph seconds as they hit 114 all out at Kirkheaton in the Frank Platt championship division two on Saturday.
They dismissed their hosts for 109, with Ball taking three for 21.
John Morris struck 167 as the seconds made 286 for seven in the Crowther Cup on Sunday, at home to Wrenthorpe.
The visitors recorded 288 for seven.
Micklehurst made a losing start to their season in the Frank Platt championship division two.
They recorded 207 for nine against Meltham, M Chamley 52 not out.
But M Usman hit 104 not out as Meltham raced to 211-3.
