OLDHAM’S darts team stayed in contention for GMC Super Eights honours with a 9-3 victory in a superb match at Bury.
Second-placed Oldham and Bury, in third, traded great darts, Oldham’s players averaging a combined 76.94 to Bury’s 72.97 for every three darts thrown.
And Oldham hit 104 scores of 100-plus, compared to Bury’s 98 in a high-quality encounter.
Winners for Oldham were Dave Rawstron (83.11), who beat England international Lee Whitworth 4-0, Mick Rawes (4-3, 84.2), Stuart Holden (4-0, 89.89), John Moreton (4-1, 75.73), Ian Walters (4-1, 85.94), Lee Holden (4-1, 84.90) and Dave Kenway (4-3, 79.41).
Both Holdens hit 180s, a feat emulated by Walters.
With one game to go, Oldham trail leaders Rochdale by six points, so the title will be decided when the two towns clash in Rochdale in June.
