Prolific Alan’s show of Steele

AMATEUR FOOTBALL: LEES and Hey Angling Association fished their latest match on Doncaster water Candy Corner where Alan Steele stole the show.
Fishing straight lead and meat, Alan caught carp to 18lb 10oz and lost an even bigger fish to weigh in a massive 60lb 5oz.
Steve Scott was second with his tip and maggot tactics netting him two carp for a level 18lb.
Rob Steele took third with a similar net weighing 15lb 2oz, in a match which saw everyone lose some really big fish.
THE Todmorden AS match fished on Croft saw John Mellor in first place with his pole and worm approach netting him 28lb 14oz of carp and chub.
Second-placed Paul Balmforth had 16lb 8oz of carp and bits taken on pole and corn, beating Rob McEndry into third with 12lb 14oz taken on chopped worm and caster.
MEDLOCK Vale Fishery fished well for the Vymura match with Ronnie Bates netting himself 15lb of carp and silver fish, with long pole and maggot the successful method used.
Second-placed Phil France took 12lb 8oz of decent-sized skimmers, with the pole and maggot doing the damage.
Alan Makin still needs help to carry his tackle after a stroke but he shows no sign of losing his touch and finished third best with 8lb 9oz of skimmers and roach.
OLDHAM Central AC’s first match of the year saw them on Cudmore’s Suez Canal Lake, where Dave Barnett was a clear winner with his corn-fished-across approach netting him 30lb 6oz of small carp.
Paul Nield (Gilders) was second with bream and tench taken on caster fished down the margins, weighing 18lb 8oz.
Darren Jones (Tight Lines) was third with a mixed bag which fell to pole and pellet.
R and D Engineering ran a corporate day on Meermoor Fisheries and it was a great success with both pools used and plenty of fish caught.
Winner on pool one was Dave Birchall with a level 80lb of carp, around the two to three pounds mark, falling for pellet fished at 13 metres.
Second was Richard Lofthouse with 70lb 8oz of carp which took pellet fished on the splasher float and feeder.
Pool two saw slightly lower weights, but they were closer with Ian Walvin netting himself first place with 55lb 4oz of carp taken on 13-metre pole, pellet and corn, easing John Birchall into second with pole and pellet securing 53lb 4oz of carp.
DRAWN on the bridge peg, Pete Cuniffe made no mistake in the Medlock Bridge AC Saturday open match fished on the park lake with caster and hemp fished at 11 metres netting him chub and roach for a winning 18lb 14oz.
Bob Harrison (Team HB) took second place despite a slow start fishing maggot.
A switch to pellet saw him catching chub, the odd roach and a few bream to weigh in 15lb 3oz, with two bream lost costing him the match.
THE Monday evening Medlock Bridge AC open match on the park lake gave Billy Brierley first place with maggot fished at 12 and 14 metres netting him 37 chub and four roach for 17lb 14oz.
Darren Webb took second with his hemp and caster, fished between two lines, tempting 14lb 11oz of chub, roach and tench.
Ian Cox was third with a late run of roach and chub coming to hemp and caster to weigh in 14lb 10oz.

Huddersfield Narrow Canal – SADAS waters fishing okay. Day tickets on the bank.
Rochdale Canal – Tench showing on most lengths with evenings best. Caster, pellet and corn for better fish, fished two thirds to tight across.
Chadderton Mill Lodge – Members-only water which is fishing out of this world. A fish every put-in whatever you put on the hook.
