AMATEUR FOOTBALL: CHADDERTONIANS boosted their chances of lifting the Lancashire Amateur League premier division title with three wins in less than a week.

They destroyed leaders and title favourites Little Lever 6-1 in a superb attacking performance.

Neil Sissons led the way with four goals, and Steve Barrow and Mark Kearns also scored.

This was followed by a 2-1 win at Bury GSOB.

Bury took a swift lead but Steve Barrow equalised and after some sustained attacking pressure in the second half, an own goal gave Chadds the points.

Chadds then beat lowly Old Blackburnians 3-1 at home. Barrow grabbed a brace and Andy Whitaker completed the scoring.

They are one point ahead of Lever at the top, although Chadds have played two more games.

Chadds seconds won 2-0 at Bury GSOB reserves in division two.

Antony O'Brien and Warren Griffith scored for Chadds, who finished third.

Oldham Hulmeians slipped to ninth in division two after being defeated 2-0 at Accrington Amateurs.

Chadds ‘A’ drew 3-3 against Horwich RMI reserves and now need to win their final game to take the fourth division title.

Alex Pickering, Jordan Scholes and Mark Hendstock scored for Chadds.

Ryan Rafferty was among the goals for Hulmeians reserves, who crushed division-five basement boys Tottington United reserves 8-3 at Tate Street.

Rafferty bagged six goals and Elliot McKinnell notched two to go seventh.

Hulmeians ‘A’ face a promotion decider with Rossendale Amateurs ‘C’ after recording their 10th straight win in division seven. Matthew Binns grabbed a hat-trick in a 3-1 victory at Bolton Wyresdale ‘B’.

THE form book went out of the window when Oddies knocked High Crompton out of the D&J Builders (North-West) Ltd Oldham Sunday League Challenge Cup.

Oddies - who sit second bottom of the Jack Abbott premier division - beat the title challengers 4-3 to reach the final.

R Cropper and Dolmor got two goals apiece for the surprise winners.

Coppice United beat Lowerhouse ‘A’ 2-1 after extra time in the other semi.

D O’Donnell and N Butt got on the scoresheet for United.

Khartoum Northern FC extended their premier division lead with a 5-0 thumping of FC Broadgate.

K Radcliffe helped himself to a hat-trick and A Murdoch scored a brace for the leaders.

Failsworth Dynamos couldn’t put a team together for their clash with Chaddy End, so they claimed the points.

There was disappointment for midtable FC Royton when they lost 2-0 at home to lowly Failsworth Athletic.

In the David Giblin division one K Bradbury and S Durden were on target as Royton Athletic beat Westwood FC 2-1 thankks to K Bradbury and S Durden.

Fitton Hill Rangers saw off title rivals Rose of Lancaster 2-0.

Honours were even when Wellington were held to a 2-2 draw by Limeside Athletic ‘A’.

In division two Lark Inn’s J Tindall scored four against Limeside Athletic ‘A’ in a stunning 8-2 victory, while Lowerhouse United ‘B’s beat Royal Oak 8-1.

D Laryea got a hat-trick in Springhead Libs FC’s 8-0 win at Old Grey Mare.

Latics legend David Eyres starred as Rifle Range Royal Blues beat Oldham United 6-0 - see John Gilder’s Match of the Day.

Famous King George edged out Crompton & Royton 2-1.

Stafford screamer puts Oldham on their way

AFC OLDHAM 2005 smashed home five goals as they beat Eagle 5-1 in the Lancashire and Cheshire League division one.

After an early blowAlwayne Thompson equalised.

Andy Stafford scored a 30-yard screamer after the break, before Thompson extended the lead.

Callum Franklin got a late brace.

Santos AFC were beaten 3-1 at home to Moorside Rangers in division two.

Moorside took a quick 2-0 lead.

Santos bucked up their ideas, but Moorside made it three before the break.

The hosts pulled a goal back when Matthew Fitton was pulled down in the area, and the tireless Adam McKinney converted the spot kick.

In division ‘D’, AFC Oldham seconds lost 4-1 to Staley Lions.

After trailing 2-0 at the interval, a Pete Smith strike gave the seconds hope, but the heat took its toll and they conceded two more.

Santos reserves were beaten 1-0 at runaway division ‘D’ winners, Bedians. Dominic Rathmill went close for Santos but Bedians scored via when a mistake by goalkeeper Richard Mason.

AFC Oldham 2005 thirds saw off Stoconians with a 5-2 victory in division ‘E’.

Gareth Cardwell scored four before the break.

Stoconians pulled two goals back, before Steve Martin poked home.

AFC Oldham fourths crashed out of the Helliwell Shield following a 4-1 reverse against Mellor.

Ryan Higginson got their goal in a brave display against a side two divisions ahead of them

His fine strike gave them the lead after just two minutes before the gulf in quality eventually took its toll.


HARRY Southern and Jack Johnson scored for Crompton Villa under-13s in a 2-0 defeat of Rochdale St Clements in the Rochdale and Oldham Youth League.


GOALS from Daniel Lewis and Joe Dawson gave Heyside Juniors under-14s a 2-0 win over FC United in the Tameside Sunday League.

AndLewis got two and Ross Morrision three in a 5-0 defeat of Clayton Villa.
