Disappointing Delph suffer heavy defeat

CRICKET: DELPH’S frustrating start to the Drakes Huddersfield League premiership season continued.
Hosts Honley chalked up 258 for seven, Simon Kelly making 111 and Delph’s Irfan Zahoor taking three for 54.
Delph were then dismissed for 135. Bruce Cruse made 34 and Tom Craddock claimed four for 20.
Delph’s seconds had better luck at home to Kexborough. They made 219 for five, Tom Wood scoring 72. The visitors were 130 all out. Paul Jewitt Jnr took four for 37. In the Frank Platt Championship, Micklehurst were beaten by Shelley, who made 231 for six, A Ahmed scoring 130 not out and S Byrom taking four for 66.
Micklehurst could only reply with 144, A Batty making 32. Ahmed took four for 38.
Clydesdale Bank 40
IN group ‘A’, Lancashire lost their opening match with Surrey at Croydon despite amassing 290 for six.
Stephen Moore recorded a maiden century for Lancs.
The hosts reached their revised target of 283 from 39 overs with a ball to spare.
On Saturday Lancs beat Essex by eight wickets in the LV= County Championship division one. Essex were bowled out for 173.
Sajid Mahmood and James Anderson each picked up three wickets. Glen Chapple claimed Alastair Cook (50).
