JONATHAN Copeland has reached finals day in the Waterloo Spring Handicap.
The Nimble Nook and Springbank teenager booked his place in the last 64 on Sunday, May 30, with a 21-10 third-round dismissal of Ken Forber (St Helens).
In the previous round, Copeland captured the scalp of top open handicap player Stuart Mort (Standish), winning 21-16.
NIMBLE Nook’s Gary Ellis was beaten 21-19 by Callum Wraight (Shrewsbury) in the semi-finals of the Woodley Classic.
Wraight was defeated 21-14 in the final by James Grimstone of St Anne’s.
THIS year’s Oldham Evening Chronicle Handicap is filling up, so anyone wishing to take part should act quickly to avoid disappointment. Entry is restricted to 64 players.
Heats will be played at Nimble Nook and Crompton on Friday, June 4 and Royton and Delph on June 11. Play on both nights starts at 6.30pm, with practice from 6pm.
The finals will be held at North Chadderton Social and Bowling Club on Saturday, July 10 (6pm start, 5.30pm practice).
Entry fee remains at £5 and players can enter by writing to Bob Nisbet at 22 Severn Road, Hollinwood, OL8 3RQ, giving name, address, daytime phone number, club and team affiliations and choice of date.
Entrants cannot choose their favoured green and, wherever possible, will not be allowed to play on a green at which they are a member.
