Eight is great for Campbell
Date published: 29 April 2010
LAST-MINUTE replacement Alan Campbell had the volcanic ash crisis to thank for a match-winning display.
The 59-year-old slow bowler took eight for 25 for Shaw against Moorside in division two.
Campbell, who took the first eight wickets to fall, should have had a ninth victim, but the ball went to ground.
He said: “I’ve taken seven wickets before in a game, but I can’t remember an eight.
“I wasn’t in the original XI, but a couple of players dropped out because they were stranded abroad.”
Shaw won the game by three wickets.
