Derby day spoils up for grabs

CRICKET lovers have two rounds of fixtures to look forward to in the Lake Garage Central Lancashire League this weekend.

Mel Whittle took a dozen wickets in two games for Oldham last time out but he lamented a string of dropped catches and said it would be the main focus in training.

So all eyes will be on the fielders when Oldham host Walsden tomorrow, followed by the big derby on Sunday, when they go to Werneth.

Crompton, still buzzing after their narrow derby defeat of Oldham, are at home to Heywood tomorrow.

Royton travel to Middleton looking to recover from a double defeat. They were outscored by Werneth, despite professional Luke Procter’s 114, before being comprehensively beaten by Unsworth.

Werneth will look to build on their recent good form when they embark on an away trip to Norden.

In another derby, Royton, looking to put that vital first victory on the board, play host to Crompton on Sunday.
