CLL CRICKET: DERBY day bragging rights went to Werneth who crushed rivals Oldham in the JW Lees Central Lancashire League.
Chris Erasmus was star of the show at the Coppice yesterday, making 126 to help Werneth to their final tally of 238 for eight. In-form Mel Whittle took four for 61 for the visitors.
In reply, Oldham could make only 93, Alan Durose claiming six for 26.
Crompton travelled to Royton and were bowled out for 177. Aqib Zulfiqar top scored with 41.
Deputy professional Mohammad Zaman Khan, paid man at Crompton last season, scored 72 for Royton and took four for 53 as they clinched victory by reaching 179 for three. Simon Brierley also pitched in with 69.
Royton's victory was achieved in the absence of pro Luke Procter, who was on Lancashire duty.
The previous day's action saw Crompton - lacking a number of key players due to their attendance of captain Carl Taylor’s wedding - lose at home to Heywood.
The visitors made 300 for four, with new pro Rajat Bhatia contributing 103 not out and Curtis McGuire adding 83. S Khan took for 33.
Crompton were all out for 139, professional Matthew Needham scoring 41.
Royton won at Middleton, making 217 for eight before dismissing their hosts for 145.
Matthew Ward hit 83 and Andrew Morris 61 for Royton, while Ryan Mayes took a match-clinching seven for 58.
Werneth travelled to Norden and were all out for 192, with Andy Fink making 41.
Norden clinched victory after mustering 193 for three, with pro Michael Price scoring an undefeated 107 for the hosts.
It was a miserable afternoon for Oldham at home to Walsden.
Craig Joy got 48, but the hosts were all out for 207, James Rawlinson taking five for 47.
Earlier, Rawlinson scored 58 and pro Duminda Perera was 69 not out as Walsden rattled up 222 for three.
