Road clinch title in style

Amateur Snooker: STANLEY Road have been crowned the Oldham Amateur Snooker League champions for season 2009/10.

Requiring five points from their final game against second-placed Deaf Club ‘B’, Stanley held their nerve to clinch top honours.

Kevin Halliwell put Stanley on the right road in frame one — it took a fluked the black to secure the point — before Graham Hickman added frame two with a break of 49.

Martin Merrington made it 3-0 thanks to a 36-break and, when Ryan Hickman and Steve Hubbert Snr pocketed the final two frames, it was Stanley were able to celebrate.

Blue Club ‘B’ beating Oldham Boro 5-1 to secure the runners-up spot, while Moss Inn ‘A’ beat their ‘C’ team 5-1 to take third place.
