Scott scoops major prize

GOLF: PATRICK Scott is a major winner at Crompton and Royton.

The 11-handicapper lifted the Seven Cup after shooting 76-11-65.

Mark Barrett (73-6-67) won a card play-off for second with Tim O’Leary (80-13-67), while Chris Calow (78-9-69) was fourth on countback from veteran Brian Smithies (79-10-69).

Crompton and Royton lost 4-3 to Vale Royal in the Alliance Foursomes.

Winners for the High Barn club were Gordon Lamb and Paul Harrison (4 and 3), Gary McHugh and Dave Bacon (7 and 6), and Mike Gazy and Les Bithell (4 and 3).

Graham Harper and Gary Hartley halved their match, but the away team received the point under the rule favouring visiting teams.
