Greengate through to semi-finals

CRICKET: Greengate hosted a Twenty20 game against Heyside thirds and scored an impressive 205 for two thanks to a partnership between A Simpson, who scored 91, and V Clark, who made 77 not out.

In reply Heyside mustered 104 for nine. P Robinson put 39 on the board. R Jackson returned figures of three for 24 for Greengate who will now play in the semi-finals of the Charlie Scoltock shield.

Newtonhurst travelled to Greengate and, batting first, were dismissed for 89 as R Jackson took four for 38 and A Simpson claimed three for nine.

Greengate didn’t find it easy chasing their target but L Buckley’s 24 not out helped them bag maximum points on 93 for six.

Foresters continued their good league start with a maximum points win at Friends.

The hosts batted first and were dismissed for 110 with Rashid top scoring with 50.

In reply Foresters were 113 for six. Latif top-scored with 37 and Rashid claimed three for 18.

At Europa Exiles visitors St Mary’s took first guard but struggled against the Europa attack.

R Lawrence took four for six to help dismiss St Mary’s for 109. S Jolly scored 46.

A Bruce’s undefeated 56 and P Hodgson’s 32 not out ensured maximum points for Europa, who were 110 for one.

Radclyffe were unable to raise a team against Newtonhurst and forfeited.

Six set for charity tour

SIX cricket watchers are embarking on a whistle-stop tour of the 18 first-class county grounds over four days in June.

The four-day trip is in aid of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Cystic Fibrosis and Shaw Cricket Club funds, with proceeds split equally.
