GOLF:

ANGIE Hunter won the Pauline Coney Trophy at BROOKDALE with a fine round of 88-23-65. Maureen Parker (97-28-69) was second.

CROMPTON and ROYTON had a 3-2 victory at Rochdale with wins for Joan Booth (3 & 2), Joan Pedder (4 & 3) and Julie Barton (2 & 1).

But the High Barn club lost 3.5-1.5 in their home scratch match against Haydock, Zoe Styles winning her match and Pauline Givvons halving hers.

OLDHAM defeated Ellesmere 4-3 in the Lancashire Shield with fine contributions from Janet Kershaw (3 & 2), Mary Buckley (half), Sheila Antrobus (half), Jane Antrobus (6 & 4) and Wendy Cash (2 & 1).

The president’s prize was won by Lynn Kershaw with 35 Stableford points.

First sweep went to Florence Jacks (34 pts) and second sweep to Linda Bailey (33).
