Sweet and sour for Brookdale

GOLF:

BROOKDALE were involved in key matches in the top two divisions of the Oldham and District Golf League.

Their ‘A’ team stayed in contention after a 7-1 home win over Saddleworth. Gary Lever holed a birdie putt on the final green to clinch an unlikely win with partner John Uren after being three down with four to play.

But reigning champions Brookdale ‘B’ had their charge halted when losing 7-1 in the reverse fixture which saw league chairman John Walsh’s men leapfrog the Woodhouses club into top spot.

It’s tight at the top of all three sections, with Fairfield still boasting a 100 per cent record in the ‘C’ division after a 6-2 win at North Manchester ‘B’.
