JOHN Waterhouse was as pleased as punch after achieving a hole-in-one at OLDHAM.
Playing with Martin Stenton in Sunday’s four-ball better-ball medal, he achieved his ace at the 134-yard par-three 16th, known to members as “Punch Bowl”.
And despite the adrenaline rush of a hole-in-one, John was able to keep his cool and partner Martin Stenton to victory with a combined score of 57.
Damian Chadwick and Sean Dixon (58) were second, ahead of Colin Hare and John Howarth (59).
LEE Rowbotham pulled of a double success at WERNETH.
First he won the midweek medalford (medal front nine, minus Stableford back nine) with a score of 12, on a card play-off from Geoff Dawson.
Then Lee, who has twice won the prestigious Oldham and District Championship, fired a 65-3-62 which included going out in five-under-par 30 to win the Garden Suburbs club’s Chronicle Cup qualifier by three shots from Les Jones (86-21-65).
