Cassidy rues missed opportunities

CRICKET: WOODHOUSES captain Mike Cassidy was left to count the cost of sloppy work in the field as they suffered a first defeat of the season in the Lancashire County League.
The Medlock Road outfit slumped to a heavy loss against title rivals Denton West.
It was always going to be an uphill struggle when their opponents raced to 322 for eight, and so it proved as Woodhouses were still 198 short when their last wicket fell.
But they did hit back with a two-wicket win at home to Colwyn Bay in the LCB Cup 24 hours later.
Cassidy is determined to keep up the pressure at the top of the league table.
He said: “We’re still right up there and the West game could have been so different had we not dropped a couple of vital catches early on.
“I was pleased with the reaction of the players when we played the following day, because Colwyn Bay are a good side.”
Woodhouses host Denton St Lawrence in the league on Saturday before making their way to Dukinfield a day later for a Walkden Cup tie.
