CRICKET: Greengate suffered their first defeat of the season in the Ashton and Oldham Alliance when they were beaten at Newtonhurst, who replaced them in top spot.
The visitors batted first, V Clarke making 38, but wickets tumbled quickly and Greengate struggled to 128, S Drummond taking five for 33.
G Boyle made 51 not out for Newtonhurst, who reached their target with seven wickets in hand.
St Mary’s HC clinched their first victory of the season at Radclyffe.
Batting first, St Mary’s made an excellent 254 for seven thanks to 123 from K Laurence.
Despite M Chambers mustering 58, Radclyffe were dismissed for 167, A Hawkins claiming three for 39.
Friends enjoyed a fine win at home to Europa Exiles who batted first and made 92, Amin taking three for 23.
Rashid with 54 not out helped Friends reach their target for the loss of two wickets.

Greengate 128 all out, Newtonhurst 129-3; St Mary’s 254-7, Radclyffe 167 all out; Europa Exiles 92 all out, Friends 95-2.
