INTEREST in Twenty20 cricket has never been greater following England’s recent ICC World Cup success in the Caribbean.
So it is to be hoped that the crowds turn out in force for the start of the Lake Garage CLL’s version tomorrow night (6.15).
The John Willie Lees-sponsored competition features four groups of four and tomorrow’s matches, which feature a local derby between Werneth and Oldham, are:
South-West section: Monton and Weaste v Unsworth; Radcliffe v Clifton. North-West: Heywood v Middleton; Rochdale v Norden. South-East: Ashton v Royton; Werneth v Oldham. North-East: Crompton v Walsden; Milnrow v Littleborough.
The two highest-placed teams in each group will contest the quarter-finals on Friday, July 16.
The semi-finals will be held on Saturday, September 4, and final on Saturday, September 11.
