ANGLING: Chadderton Mill AC’s Thursday summer league match on the club water saw Darren Webb (Medlock) claim first place with a 45lb 8oz net made of ide and carp.

Using maggot up in the water, Webb caught 25lb of ide before switching to paste fished down the side to snare two big carp around 10lb apiece.

Jim Evans was second with 20lb of carp on the pole and meat at six metres and 22lb 8oz of ide and roach caught on maggot fished up in the water to record a 42lb 8oz finish.

Aiden Bordiak (Tight Lines) was third with 40lb 8oz of ide all taken on maggot just inches deep, beating organiser Lee Humphries (GTI Matchman) into fourth with 29lb 14oz of ide that took caster, at 12 metres.

Sunday saw Chadderton Mill AC having a knock up on the club water and it was Humphries who took the main money with his 61lb catch, including just a solitary carp of around 3lb added to a super catch of ide taken on long pole and caster.

Paul Hill (Gilders) was second with his 42lb net from peg one which included 22lb of carp taken on paste down the edge and 20lb of ide on maggot.

The fish ranged from 12oz to 1lb 8oz.

THE third round of the Cairo AC summer league fished on Denshaw Vale was unusual in that no big fish showed, with the largest specimen caught just 6oz.

Winner on the day was Mick Jewitt (Tight Lines) with small skimmers and tench making up his 3lb 13oz catch that fell to the pole and pellet.

Paul Lord had an almost identical catch to the winner but fell a few fish short with 3lb 2oz.

Jim Wild was second with 9lb 13oz of skimmers followed Steve Blackburn with a level 5lb of small carp taken on pellet.

Two small carp in the last 20 minutes saw Steve Sharples into fourth with 4lb 4oz.

BILLY Brierley enjoyed a fine run of form in three Medlock Bridge AC matches.

He won the contest on Park Lake with his pole, waggler and maggot tactics accounting for 22lb 2oz of roach, chub and the odd skimmer.

Second-placed Chris Davies used casters under a waggler to net 9lb of roach and some tench and skimmers totalling 14lb 12oz.

Steve Clegg (Saints) was third with his pole and maggot hookbait tempting 12lb 13oz of roach and chub.

A swift return to the same venue saw Brierley finish third with 7lb 14oz of chub, roach and skimmers to the pole, waggler and maggot.

Paul Hughes triumphed with 9lb 2oz of skimmers, tench and chub on pellet and maggot.

Darren Taylor was second with pole and pellet netting 8lb 1oz of skimmers, tench and chub.

And in the latest of the Medlock Bridge AC matches, Brierley earned another third place, with 7lb 7oz.
