CRICKET: DELPH will be gunning for revenge when they host high-flying Hoylandswaine in the Drakes Huddersfield League premiership tomorrow.
The two sides met at Hoylandswaine in the last round of fixtures, with Delph losing a hard-fought match.
Bilal Khiljee top-scored with 54 as the visitors were all out for 231, before their hosts reached the target with two wickets in hand.
Delph skipper Grant Jones said: “Hoylandswaine are a very good all-round side.
“I’m encouraged by the fact we gave them a run for their money last time, especially as they are near the top of the league.
“We should have made 30 or 40 more runs than we did in the end, because we started so brightly.
“I think we were on 200 with 10 overs remaining, but our middle order collapsed.
“We have a full squad tomorrow to have another crack, and let’s see if we can do better on home soil.”
MICKLEHURST host Shelley in the Frank Platt Championship tomorrow looking to build on their first win in 12 months.
They made 137 before bowling out opponents Lepton Highlanders for 127 last time out, sparking jubilant scenes.
President Duncan Ross said: “It was a massive weight off everyone’s shoulders when we finally got a positive result.
“Hopefully the players will be able to use it as a springboard and put a bit of a run together, starting with the game against Shelley.”
WOODHOUSES will bid to build on back-to-back victories when they host Roe Green in the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League tomorrow.
In their last fixture they saw off Irlam, thanks in no small part to Josh Tolley’s undefeated 87 which helped his side to reach 164 for three. Irlam were dismissed for 101.
Tolley recorded 53 against Prestwich 24 hours later in a total of 159.
Prestwich were 11 runs shy of their goal when their last wicket fell.
Woodhouses captain Mike Cassidy and his men will look to keep up the good work in front of the Medlock Road faithful.
