CALLING all fast bowlers in the area.
Cameras from Sky Sports’ ‘Cricket AM’ programme are at Shaw CC on Thursday, June 17, for the latest round of the ‘Speed Gun Challenge’.
‘Cricket AM’ are searching for the quickest club bowler in the country and they bringing their very own speed gun to register the sharpest pacemen on the night.
The ‘Speed Gun Challenge’ is visiting a host of clubs in the next couple of months.
A leaderboard is already up and running, and players will be able to chart their progress with weekly updates on the Sky Sports website.
Leading the way is Yasar Arafat, from Breachwood Green CC, who clocked 68mph, while Jonathon Buckby (University of Kent) recorded 61mph.
The overall winner will receive a prize still to be determined.
The event at Shaw is open to players from the Saddleworth and District Cricket League and any other cricket clubs in the borough.
