Failsworth in victory romp

CRICKET:

FAILSWORTH Macedonia enjoyed an impressive victory over Littleborough Lakeside in the Site Electrical North Manchester Cricket League.

Batting first, Macedonia clocked up 230. Littleborough were dismissed for 173 in reply.

There was no such joy for Springhead, who suffered a 71-run defeat against East Lancs.

In division two, Saddleworth thirds swept aside Prestwich by 104 runs

And they are through to round three of the Hodson Cup after a comfortable win over Elton Vale seconds.

Failsworth Macedonia seconds exited the Stokes Cup, but Greenfield thirds cruised into the next round after dismissing Rochdale Catholic Club seconds for 97.

Austerlands thirds finished on 214 for six in the Hunter Cup second round, prior to opponents Bury thirds wrapping up the tie for the loss of three wickets.

Springhead seconds are also out of the competition after they were beaten by Walshaw thirds.

Division two: Saddleworth thirds 257-4, Prestwich thirds 153 all out.

Stokes Cup, second round: Failsworth Macedonia seconds 157 all out, Thornham thirds 160-6; Greenfield thirds 212-6, Roch Cath Club seconds 97 all out.

Hunter Cup, second round: Bury thirds 215-3, Austerlands thirds 214-6; Walshaw thirds 190-4, Springhead seconds 189-8.


THE Twenty20 semi-finals brought plenty of excitement to the Ashton and Oldham Cricket Alliance.

In the Scoltock Shield, Europa Exiles enjoyed a fine six-wicket victory against Greengate.

In the other semi-final, Friends posted an impressive 192 — Amin scored 85 — before opponents Foresters ended on 172 for six despite Bailey’s undefeated 58.

Twenty20 final line-up (at Heyside, July 17): Newtonhurst v St Mary’s HC.
