RUGBY LEAGUE: OLDHAM’S second team are beginning to look serious play-off contenders after they took their aggregate points in their last three games to 150 with a 44-16 win over Sheffield Eagles at the Whitebank.
Centre Jamie Knight, winger Danny Chetwynd, second-row man Johnny Walker and substitute hooker Dean Hatton each scored two tries, while half-back Mick Diveney kicked six goals from eight attempts.
Hatton gave an impressive performance, despite being sin-binned in the first half for a high tackle, and was rewarded by being called up as 18th man for the first team’s game against Doncaster the following day.
ROUGHYEDS physio Rachael Johnson ran superbly to win a 5k Race for Life fund-raiser for Cancer Research UK.
The women-only event at Wigan’s Haigh Hall attracted more than 900 entries, but Rachael (25) crossed the line after 24 minutes - 30 seconds ahead of her nearest rival.
She dedicated her run to her best friend’s mum and to her uncle, both of whom died from cancer.
An accomplished gymnast, Rachael works in the physiotherapy department at Wythenshaw Hospital.
