I ATTENDED the funeral of George Whiting, who passed away after a long illness.

George (70) contributed great service as secretary of Holt Lane AC, Diggle AC, Don Mintex, and Eight Bells AC.

He had some memorable times, with a Diggle AC Championship and one of the best catches on Tanners Dam with an estimated 70-80lbs of bream, carp and tench.

A great person, a real gentleman, George will be sadly missed and leaves wife Doreen and daughters Cherrie and Tracey.
