Foresters chop down St Mary’s

CRICKET:
AN entertaining Ashton and Oldham Cricket Alliance encounter at St Mary’s HC saw visitors Foresters grab the winning runs in the last over.
St Mary’s reached 149 for nine, with K Laurence contributing 48.
Bailey’s 43 not out helped Foresters to the win, but they cut it fine in reaching their target.
Newtonhurst, meanwhile, were dismissed by Europa Exiles for 102.
And they passed that total with a comfortable seven wickets to spare.
Heyside thirds batted first at Friends and were bowled out for 135, J McLoughlin making 52.
In reply, Friends were dismissed for 128.
Greengate made a massive 270 for seven against Heyside thirds, who could manage only 110 when it was their turn to bat.
DELPH recorded a comfortable victory at home to Holmfirth in the Drakes Huddersfield League premiership.
The visitors finished on 162 for eight, most of the damage being done by Matthew Norvall, who claimed five for 39.
He was ably backed up by Lancashire star Kyle Hogg, who took two for 46, while Arron Lilley grabbed the other wicket.
In reply, Delph reached their goal for the loss of just one wicket as Bruce Cruse posted an undefeated 71.
Bilal Khiljee (48 not out) and Irfan Zahoor (32 not out) steered them home.
Delph also won an Examiner Twenty20 match at home to Armitage Bridge.
Faisal Butt scored a fantastic 173 not out as the hosts posted 256 for five before Bridge were restricted to 145 for nine.
MICKLEHURST remain the basement boys of the Frank Platt Championship following a home defeat to Lepton Highlanders.
They were bowled out for 137, a score their opponents passed with nine wickets in hand.
WOODHOUSES suffered defeat at Stand in the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League division one.
The hosts were dismissed for 230, but visitors Woodhouses fell 50 runs short.
However, Woodhouses did beat Irlam in the Walkden Cup.
Josh Tolley scored 126 as Woodhouses made 293 for eight before bowling out their opponents for 170.
Woodhouses face Glossop in the semi-finals.
