SNOOKER:
THE Oldham Snooker Academy had plenty to celebrate in the Manchester Snooker League.
Rivals were green were envy as they pocketed a clutch of trophies.
The Academy’s first and second teams clinched top honours in their respective divisions.
Ian Atherton was the players’ player of the season in the ‘A’ division, while team-mate Michael Wild recorded the highest break in the competition of 134.
Sajid Zamurd was Mr Consistency with six breaks of more than 50 in six of the 20 matches.
Tanveer Hussain also had a great campaign for the ‘B’ team, and was voted the ‘B’ division player of the season.
Such is the success of the Academy, they are planning to enter a third team in the league next season.
