New boys’ final ambition

GOLF:

NEW boys Crompton and Royton ‘A’ are one step away from reaching the Oldham and District Golf League Cup final at the first attempt.

They progressed to the semi-finals with an impressive 4-1 win against a solid Brookdale ‘A’ outfit at Oldham.

Werneth came close to providing two semi-finalists.

Their ‘A’ team had a hard-fought 3-2 win over North Manchester ‘A’ at Brookdale with former Werneth player Nick Fallows gaining some consolation with a 20th-hole success and a hole-in-one at the 11th!

And the Werneth ‘B’ side went close against Stamford ‘A’ at Crompton and Royton with four of the five matches going to the last green or beyond.

Blackley’s ‘B’ team carry the flag for the second-string sides after they beat Saddleworth 4.5-0.5 at North Manchester.
