CRICKET: SHAW chairman Alan Campbell has spoken of his disappointment at Andre Malan’s decision to return to South Africa.
The 18-year-old overseas amateur, who averaged 53.8 with the bat, was homesick.
Mr Campbell said: “After chatting in committee and to his father, we felt the best thing for Andre was for him to go home.
“He is a very talented cricketer and people who know him and have seen him play are positive he will do well in the future.
“He is a nice lad and did really well here, but he was desperately homesick.
“We wish him well in whatever he does.”
