CRICKET: UPPERMILL are preparing to come face-to-face with one of the most prolific batsmen in local league cricket.
Clinton Perren, who is already closing in on 1,300 runs for the season, will captain opponents Littleborough in the last eight of the LCB Cup at Leefields on Sunday (start 2pm).
The Australian-born professional has carried all before him this season — he averages 122.80 — and hardly a week has gone by without him making a significant contribution to the CLL side’s total.
And if that isn’t enough for the underdogs to contend with, overseas amateur Warron Williams will also take his place in the Littleborough line-up after he was cleared to play by the LCB.

He averages more than 90 with the bat this term and has an unbeaten century to his name.
But Uppermill skipper Alex Griffiths, who has no professional or overseas amateur at his disposal, is undaunted by the prospect.
He said: “It’s just another game of cricket.
“I’m confident that we will win and playing at home is an advantage.
“Also the camaraderie in our team is fantastic. We all pull together and get the results. That’s why we won six league matches on the trot before losing to Bamford Fieldhouse last weekend.”
