Angling: FENTON Tenant stormed to victory in the SADAS open match on the Diggle end of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
The venue’s tench and skimmer population were in a feeding mood, and Tenant took advantage by weighing in an amazing 41lb 5oz despite the blustery conditions.
Drawn on the end, he used micro pellets and chopped worm between 11 and 12 metres for tench, skimmers and bream to 2lb as well as a couple of good-sized carp.
Travel partner, Brian Murphy, was next-best.
Opting for a similar approach, he had a few more skimmers but no carp and just a couple of tench for 15lb 15oz.
Mick Jewitt (Tight Lines) was drawn next to the winner.
He caught mainly skimmers and just the odd tench on chopped worm and caster for 15lb 1oz and third place.
JOHN Berry, featuring three small carp and some skimmers, won the Diggle AC Tuesday evening match on Tanners Dam.
He tipped the scales at 15lb 10oz after opting for the long pole, meat and pellet combination from peg 26.
Runner-up Nick Haymes had a 15lb 6oz net made up of three small carp and bits, while Martin Taylor was third with 7lb 10oz of silvers.
The previous match, also at Tanners Dam, went to Dave Machin, who had a 22lb 4oz net of a few small carp and plenty of skimmers on the 13m pole and switches between meat, pellet and paste.
Ian Cox used maggot and caster at 12 metres for a 16lb 6oz catch of skimmers and roach.
Taylor (TRI-CAST) was third on the night, with 12lb 7oz of skimmers and roach on pellet, maggot and caster at 14 metres.
DARREN Webb won the latest Medlock Bridge AC open on the Park Lake. Hemp and caster attracted a few small perch and chub, before a switch to pellet over swimstim at 11 metres enticed some decent skimmers for 18lb 1oz.
Peter Cuniffe, in second, had 14lb 9oz of small perch, roach and a 3lb bream, while Bob Harrison was third with pellet over swimstim groundbait luring chub, tench and decent skimmers for 14lb 8oz.
JIM Evans claimed victory in the latest Chadderton Mill Lodge Thursday night match.
Drawn on peg 15, he caught 14 carp on meat at five metres for 47lb. Aiden Bordiak (Tight Lines) was again in the frame, with a 42lb 2oz catch, which included 15lb of ide on caster fished shallow. The remainder of his bag was all carp on banded pellet.
Third was Lee Humphries (GTI Matchman) with 10lb of ide and 31lb of carp on paste down the edge.
With six matches to go, Humphries leads the way with 10 points, followed by Bordiak (15pts), with Paul Hill and Darren Webb tied for third on 29 points.
