BOWLS: TONGE remain in command of the Manchester Premier League title race despite losing 9-6 (180-149) to main challengers Garswood Hall in Wigan.
Tonge made a superb start, winning the first four games thanks to Jimmy Derby (21-17), Andrew Cairns (21-13), Simon Coupe (21-17) and Gary Ellis (21-7).
But Garswood hit back on their notoriously-difficult green to take the last six matches and clinch the aggregate.
Tonge had a healthy cushion going into the game and came away happy with a result which did little to loosen their grip on the title.
