Angling: IN-FORM Jim Evans made it two wins out of two in the Chadderton Mill AC Thursday evening matches on the club water.

Drawn on the favoured peg 14, he produced a fine display to clinch top honours.

Evans opted for meat at just five metres for 14 carp — one specimen weighed in at 8lb — for a match-winning 44lb 8oz bag.

Organiser Lee Humphries (GTI Matchman) was the runner-up with a 42lb 4oz net made up of ide adding up to 30lb on the 12-metre pole and caster and 12lb of carp tempted on paste down the side.

Paul Hill (Gilders) was third-best with an all-ide 39lb catch on maggot at 12 metres.

THE SADAS members-only match on Eagle Mill Dam was won by Darren Green.

The Gilders rod had tench, bream, crucians and roach on a combination of chopped worm, pellets, corn and meat for 17lb 6oz.

Many of the leading anglers chose a close-in line, as did Tom Green (Gilders), who recorded a 16lb 2oz catch including crucians, tench and bream on a range of baits.

Third-placed Ian Palmer, also of Gilders, used just four sections of his pole with meat and paste on the hook to tempt a similar catch of 15lb.

DAVE Machin has got Tanners Dam sussed, and is dominating the Diggle AC Tuesday evening matches on the water.

He registered yet another win thanks to a brace of two carp and some skimmers on the long pole with pellet and meat for 20lb 12oz.

Ian Cox (Stalybridge) was second with an all silver fish net on pole, pellet and caster which weighed in at 14lb 8oz.

Organiser Ian Walvin (Gilders) was in third place with a carp and a few skimmers at 7lb, but he also lost a big carp.

BOB Harrison, of Team HB, was first in the Medlock Bridge AC Saturday open match on a steady Park Lake venue.

Drawn on peg 29, he attracted plenty of skimmers, tench and chub by using two swims with pellet over swimstim groundbait for 22lb 7oz.

Peter Cuniffe had to settle for second best with hemp and caster tactics again working.

He had a roach, perch, chub and bream net of 13lb 1oz.

Weights were better in the Medlock Bridge AC Monday evening match on the same venue, where Billy Brierley (Team HB) clinched first place with an impressive 29lb 3oz.

Drawn on peg six, he switched from his usual maggot approach to pellet and it proved the right move, with his long pole approach enticing lots of skimmers, tench and chub.

Paul Lord, the runner-up, had 20lb 2oz of pellet-tempted chub, roach and skimmers.

John German was top of the pops on Heronbrook Fisheries’ Island pool.

Throwing a method feeder tight to the island with meat and corn on the hook, he landed plenty of carp from 4lb to 8lb to weigh in a superb 49lb 6oz.

In contrast, Jack Cubby opted for paste at six metres, which accounted for carp of all sizes for a 46lb 8oz bag.

Steve Sharples, in third place, had 45lb 9oz of carp on meat on the feeder cast tight to the island.
