Delph’s title hopes shattered by Honley

DELPH’S Drakes Huddersfield League premier division title hopes are over following defeat at the hands of leaders Honley.

Delph desperately needed to win this fixture to stay in touch, but defeat leaves them 36 points behind.

Hosts Delph batted first in a match reduced to 25 overs and were dismissed for 104, John Morris top-scoring with 27.

In reply, the visitors reached their target with eight wickets to spare, Kyle Hogg and Faisal Butt taking a wicket each.

Tomorrow sees Delph travel to Rastrick in the Twenty20 quarter-finals (6.30pm start).

In the Frank Platt Championship, Micklehurst were bowled out for 58 before opponents Almondbury reached their goal for the loss of five wickets.

n SAM Sweeney was the star of the show for Woodhouses in their victory over Woodbank in the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League division one.

He claimed six for 24 as Woodbank were dismissed for 127 in reply to 184 all out. Nick Doyle posted 56 for Woodhouses.
